Being outcome focused is one of the key principles of our Strategic Transport Plan. As part of delivering our vision for the North, it is important that we regularly monitor and report on the progress we’re making towards delivering our strategic ambitions, objectives, and targets. Our Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy describes the approach we have put in place to monitor and report progress towards our pan-Northern targets, as well as to gather evidence to understand the impact that TfN’s work is having on achieving our objectives. The evidence on the latter will allow us to steer our activities to maximise our impact, and to reconsider our approach where necessary to ensure we are doing everything we can to deliver on our collective vision.
Our Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy sets out what, how and when we will monitor and report to understand our progress towards achieving the STP vision, and the value TfN is adding in delivering this. Some of the main components of our M&E Strategy include:
STP Monitoring and Evaluation Dashboard
Monitoring progress over time for a set of headline objectives selected to allow us to monitor the delivery of the STP strategic ambitions. The headline objectives define the vision of the STP – they are ambitious and transformative, and have defined medium- and long-term targets.
It should be noted that the targets for our headline objectives are pan-Northern targets, and we recognise that different places may perform differently or have nuanced targets depending on their unique circumstances.
TfN Offer Monitoring and Evaluation
Understanding feedback from our partners on the success and impact of the support provided via the TfN Offer – which helps us understand how and where TfN is adding value towards the delivery of our vision.
Project-level Monitoring and Evaluation
Understanding how projects delivered by TfN have contributed to the delivery of our strategic objectives, and identifying best practice and lessons learned for future projects.
