The river Humber is the lifeblood of Hull, East Riding, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire, creating opportunities for local businesses and local people, as it becomes the UK’s busiest trading gateway. The Humber LEP is transforming the way businesses work in the ports and how logistic companies operate across the region through partnering with innovative education provider, the Grimsby Institute forming Modal Training.
The £7m partnership has created Modal Training Ltd, a cutting-edge training provider. This is the first organisation in the UK to provide multi modal logistics training for sea, road, rail and air, as well as a full range of support services.
Modal is teaming up with ABP to provide a range of training course, including allowing marine apprentices to make use of high-tech simulators before they take to the waves as marine pilots on the Humber.
